The Problem
For years, mounting a UHF radio handpiece in a Nissan GU Patrol has usually meant the same compromises — self-tapping screws through factory trim which always fail and leave holes in the trim, double-sided tape stuck to the dash which softens and falls apart in the heat, bulky universal brackets, or handpieces left swinging around the cabin.Â
The Solution
At ZAPPSWORKS, we wanted a cleaner solution that actually looked like it belonged in the vehicle from the factory. The ZAPPSWORKS Nissan GU Patrol Series 4+ Magnetic UHF Handpiece Mount Adapter was designed specifically to replace the factory dash blank with a neat OEM-style mounting solution that keeps your UHF handpiece accessible without cluttering the interior or obstructing the driver’s view. Compatible with a wide range of magnetic microphone mounts including GME, Uniden, Oricom and others, the mount installs without drilling or permanent modification to the vehicle, making it an ideal upgrade for touring, daily driving, and off-road setups alike.
What Sets us Apart
 Unlike many generic aftermarket 3D printed accessories, this product wasn’t rushed to market. The design spent over a year in testing and refinement to ensure long-term durability, reliable magnet retention, and resistance to the harsh conditions commonly experienced inside Australian vehicles. Repeated real-world testing included daily use, constant handpiece removal and reattachment, vibration from rough roads, and exposure to elevated cabin temperatures during Australian summers. To further improve durability, the mount is manufactured from high-quality ASA thermoplastic selected for improved UV stability and heat resistance in automotive interior environments. Compared to traditional ABS materials commonly used in aftermarket accessories, ASA offers improved resistance to fading, chalking, and long-term UV exposure, making it better suited to harsh interior automotive conditions.
Assembly And Installation
Assembly is straightforward and designed to be completed using basic hand tools. The mount consists of a main mounting body, retaining plate, and stainless steel machine screws.Â
To assemble the unit, remove the retaining plate screws, press your compatible magnetic mounting puck into the main body, then reinstall the retaining plate to securely capture the magnet and prevent movement during use.Â
Installation into the vehicle is equally simple. Using a non-marring plastic trim removal tool, carefully remove the factory dash blanking plate from the dashboard, then clip the completed mount assembly into the factory location.Â
Once installed, simply attach your magnetic UHF handpiece mount and enjoy a cleaner, more professional-looking setup without the need for drilling, adhesives, or permanent modifications.
